Wikileaks is not the story. Our government, officials, make the story a story. Media doesn't want to report to contents of Wiki and that whats important.
They are still PART of the story. I went back and forth on this issue, and thought long and hard about it. There were many things that came to mind on how horribly the government screwed up in securing its secrets, but I still think that Wikileaks isn't "in the clear". They shouldn't be putting peoples lives in danger. Find another way to make our government transparent, but don't let it lead to people getting killed (they said they still would've published stuff if they knew it would harm someone).
You have to realize that in the 4 yeas of wikileaks releasing secret documents, not a life has been taken as a direct consequence of the leaked documents. The Goverment itself has declared that no harm, tactic or strategic information has been made public. Thruth wants to be free and what right has a goverment to keeps secrets from its people?
I agree with the friend, wikileaks is not the story. Its the cover.
The cover to the embarrassment it has caused the US state and its allies.
Countless lives are lost both directly (combat - invasions, bombing of civilian targets, etc), and indirectly (policy - sanctions, blockades, etc.), as a result of US imperialism in the Third World on a daily basis.
So, to point the finger of blame at Wikileaks for endangering lives is incredibly dishonest and callous.
Fortunately, as demonstrated by the avalanche of support for WikiLeaks and Julian Assange, people the world over are not convinced.
The real issue is bringing those responsible for war and destruction to account. Therein lies a global challenge.
"Julian Assange is without principles. He seems to think leaking confidential communications proves that the vast right-wing military-industrial-financial complex is harming either the most affluent, free Western population in the history of civilization or the globalized world itself — one that has done more to eliminate poverty and extend freedom in the last two decades than had been done at any other time in recorded history."

I kind of agree

People in Danger?

How is this so?

Are you a democrat or just a euro?
Let's see, "US Imperialism", US is (of course) killing people, USA BAD! USA BAD! USA BAD! - You must be a democrat.
Nah, there's nothing that would endanger anyone's lives by release classified information.
You make me sick. Get a clue
Julian Assange's EgoLeaks

Julian Assange
Julian Assange is a beacon in these dark times.... I love him.
These ARE dark times
Thanks to "the Won" and his minions, but Assange is no beacon. He is a rapist and a blackmailer. He breaks laws and needs to be punished.
