Artist kinda an idiot?

... Yes. Any perusal of my blog (DCDouglasBlog.com), FB page and public utterances (in addition to my illegally recorded phone conversation or the private voicemail I left FreedomWorksNot) would reveal that I am for gay rights, pro-choice, and anti-"anti-intellectuals." This is why I inquired - calmly and nicely - as to the mental acuity of Matt Kibbe, Dick Armey and his followers -- as they were stirring up hate and fear with misinformation and coded race baiting.

The fact you "Karl Roved" the whole incident to sell T-shirts let's me know you're as genuine as a BP ad. And a pretty bad artist.

He's BAAAAAaaaack!!!!

D.C.! It's so nice to see you're still up to your regular liberal hypocrisy. Ever since you blocked me on teh Twit, it just hasn't been the same!

Still want that hug? I've reconsidered your offer. Whether or not you'll be able to breathe during is largely up to the strength of your intercostal muscles...

Seriously, your little message here did nothing to disprove Toby's point. If anything, it only proves it. "Artist Kinda An Idiot?" as the title of your comment? Indeed, it seems you've decided to fully embrace the hypocrisy that is your version of holier-than-thou liberalsim. Congratulations! At least now you're being honest in deed if ironic in words!

Seriously, D.C. You need to make sure you keep taking your lithium. I understand Afghanistan has a rather tremendous supply. Wouldn't want you to get all discombobulated and leave another whacky message on some Right-Wing group's voice mail.

Please, since you've blocked anyone you can't intimidate into silence, pop up now and then and let those of us concerned about you know every once in awhile that you're still completely off your rocker.

Love the impeccable logic of

Love the impeccable logic of the right. If you call someone what they are, you're "projecting".
So once I witnessed a bank robbery, and told the police what I saw.
I got 5 to 10.

Love the logic of the left

Love the logic of the left. You say you are "for gays", but call people GAY!!! as a derogatory term. Say that you are "peaceful" yet vaguely threaten them with "there's a bunch of people that would like to meet you over there!" Say that you are "for the little people" then have all of your activists paid for by unions and Soros money. Say you are "compassionate" yet call people retards if you don't have an argument that can stand up to theirs.

too funny.

You

I have no idea who you are, but reading your response, I'd block you all over again, only for the fact you're kind of a nincompoop. That is not a derogatory label. More an astute observation.

Calm down. Glenn Beck will be on soon.

How can you forget...?

...our Wonderful Twit convo about you making false accusations about a sexual relationship between a friend of mine and Matt Kibbe? Don't you remember offering me a hug, then blocking me?

I'm so hurt!

/emo

Seriously, either you're not D.C. Douglas, but some dumb**** troll; or you're even less intelligent than I thought. Could it be that D.C. Douglas lacks the basic human intelligence necessary to remember lengthy communications and understand snark?

Probably.

In any event, calling me a nincompoop is tantamount to admitting you lack the basic intellectual skills to have a rudimentary but meaninful conversation (particularly one wherein the object clearly is to be as snarky and sarcastic as possible while never being fully aggressively insulting). When your'e ready to engage in something more than simple name calling, let me know.

Oh, by the way: I hate Glenn Beck. Can't stand the guy. Right up there with O'Reilly. Both make me want to express my spleen through my nose. Theatrics aren't meaningful discourse. While Beck frequently puts out some interesting research, he's all about theatrics and going over-the-top.

Kinda' like... You... That is, if it really is you...

Sorry

I still have no idea who you are.

Miss you man

DC, I miss you man. It hasn't been the same around the office without you. The old guy is treating me nicely - I've moved up from the mailroom to 'spokesman' (spokes-gecko I guess).

I see your anger management classes are working, a little. You didn't accuse the artist of being gay, by calling him a teabagger, or implied he was "mentally challenged" by calling him a retard, but I see you are still projecting your anger.

Keep working at it, one day I know you'll work through all the anger issues.

-G

Zzzzz

Silly boy, I guess you're all hugs and kisses when it comes to a Mosque 2 blocks from Ground Zero? I hope so. If not, I'll save you a seat at my imaginary anger management class... And if you miss me, come over to the FB page. Lots of folks would like to meet you.

Bad man

This is very difficult for me, but I feel I must tell the world the truth.
I am a Cape Verdean Gay man with an IQ of 37. One day I got a call from someone claiming that he was a personal friend of a talking gecko, and would let me keep the gecko as a pet, if I would let the caller stand over me and ******************.
I've always wanted to have a talking gecko for a friend, so I said yes.
After he had his way with me, he used big words to call me very bad names and admitted he didn't even KNOW the gecko!
Then he laughed and hit me.
I'm so humiliated.

Stupid Artist

First of all, D.C. didn't actually say any of those things in his phone call to Freedom Works. I listened to the actual voicemail he left. Secondly, you're a low-rent artist, as that depiction doesn't capture any of D.C.'s physical features, way of dressing, expressions, etc. If you didn't come out and say it was D.C. no one would ever recognize him except you. D.C. is actually articulate and funny in his delivery of criticism of Freedom Works. It's you far right wing nuts who resort to trite and base name calling. If you want to check out really brilliant political humor, you may want to check the videos on D.C.'s page. A riot!

again, point made...

Honestly, DO YOU NOT SEE THE IRONY of calling someone a name: "right wing nuts", "low rent artist", then accusing the right wing of name calling????????

Sorry, Toby. He didn't say

Sorry, Toby. He didn't say all the words you put in his mouth. You might just as well label it as anyone.
Fail.

If you call that...

If you call that "articulate and funny", that tells me all I need to know about your intellect. D.C. suggested I am a Glenn Beck fan. He was wrong.

But I'm guessing if you find D.C. "articulate and funny" you probably think Tim & Eric Awesome Show deserves a Nobel.

If you want to check out really brilliant political humor, you may want to check the videos on D.C.'s page. A riot!

Um, no. D.C. is hateful. His criticisms lack anything resembling subtlety (a general requirement for humor) and his videos are hackneyed and boring. He is (and should remain) on the rungs of the ladder of history as someone to be stepped on by people who are actually insightful and funny.

Hmm

A very caring, kind and calm response. No hate there.

Issues, people, Issues!!!

With a host of real world problems facing those on the left and right, I would think we could come together on one thing, actually discussing ISSUES. This might have ended at "I'm sorry." Or, "I regret my choice of words and hold no ill will to individuals."

It would seem that now is the time to discuss what is wrong with our political system, why such a large majority of americans feel under-represented, umemployed, uninsured and unable to feel good about much of anything these days.

Perhaps the common ground to start from is that DC, Matt, Dick and the rest of the peanut gallery care enough about Democracy and the Freedom that it represents to actually do something they see as positive to affect real change.

One thing is certain, name calling and arguing about adolescent behavior that is in the past will not move us forward. Genuine discourse on real issues will. Everything we do is an opportunity to act in a positive, forward moving, goal-oriented manner.

I see that DC continues to act in a manner that he believes in. He continues to produce moving video messages on issues important to him, something that I doubt he is being paid for. Despite his distain for their tactics, Matt and Dick are working (and it really is work) trying to shape the future of our country. For that, they should all be applauded.

(Insert Rodney King speech here)

Take action, get involved! Vote!

Bravo

Excellent post.

Let's see...

"One thing is certain, name calling and arguing about adolescent behavior that is in the past will not move us forward.

I see that DC continues to act in a manner that he believes in.

...they should all be applauded."

So, coming on someone else's website to call them "idiot", "stupid", etc. etc. etc. should be applauded? Real mature.

Great post.

Betty boo boo

"So, coming on someone else's website to call them "idiot", "stupid", etc. etc. etc. should be applauded? "

I felt I had some latitude being that the "artist" is portraying his version of my likeness, tagging it with my name, placing words in my mouth that I didn't say and expressing a judgement about his distorted representation. Seemed fair game for me to respond by pointing out his errors and surmising his level of intelligence.

When he makes a libelous cartoon about you, feel free to remain "mature" and allow it to go unanswered while it propagates in the search engines throughout the internet in perpetuity.

you lie!

first you lie to freedomworks ("I am doing a paper...how many of you are mentally retarded..."), then get caught doing it, lose your gig with the insurance company over it, expect it to just go away and have nobody comment on it, then call people names when it doesn't go away.

says much about your own level of intelligence.

i'm glad you didn't "let it go unanswered". this way everyone can see what kind of person you truly are.

Yeah he is back

Kind of missed hearing the latest Left Wing rant. There is not one as good a DC at making a fool of himself on a phone message, and it looks like he is doing a good job of it on comments on this blog also.

Ugh

Wow, leave the computer for a day and look at all the stuff you miss.

In an effort to keep this argument from going on forever, I'm choosing to close the comments on this thread.

I would like to say though that, D.C., the words in the text box in the cartoon don't have quotation marks around then, so weren't meant to be taken as literal quotes of things you said. Instead, a representation of the types of things I imagined you would say. In browsing through the comments on this thread, and listening again to the audio of the phone call, you've said pretty much everything I imagined (saying that the people at FW were stirring up fear and hate (homophobic?), that they were using coded race-baiting (racist?), wanting to know if they were 'Mentally Retarded' (retards?), I guess 'stirring up hate and fear' would suggest violence to most people.

The point is, it is easy for you to suggest people are hateful, but then ignore all the hateful things you say about them (thus, projection). The comment is about your projection of hate, not your projections of the other stuff in the word balloon.

I have no problem if you want to "point out the errors" in my rendering of your likeness, but once again, you (and your Facebook friends) chose to do it in a hateful, name calling sort of way then turn around and call others hateful.

Lastly, its only been recently that I began to test the waters of selling some shirts. Only certain cartoons are being tested. I never planned on selling this cartoon on any shirt, so I'm not using "the whole incident to sell T-shirts".

Thanks for visiting the site.
